Its first year was 2006. At the beginning it was a small festival with only a handful of artists but it has slowly stablished itself as a popular indoor music festival. One of the artists that was part of the event in 2006 was Fall Out Boy, which had already achieved fame the year before; the other ones weren't well-known. It first took place in the Leed's Millenium square, but it moved to the student union of the University of Leeds.

In 2010, a part of the festival was held for the first time in the University of Hertfordshire. Nowadays this two-day festival is known as the Slam Dunk North (Leeds) and Slam Dunk South (Hertfordshire). Now there's a third event in Midlands (Birmingham).

It is normally held on the May Bank Holiday of each year, featuring a mixture of up-and-coming and more stablished bands, based around punk, emo, metal, rock and ska music.

Through the years it attracted bands as Fall Out Boy, Paramore, You Me At Six, We The Kings, We Are The Ocean, Anti-Flag, New Found Glory, Against Me!, Me vs Hero, Save Your Breath, Reel Big Fish, Taking Back Sunday, The Blackout, Funeral For A Friend, While She Sleeps, Architects, Every Time I Die, Of Mice & Men, Don Broco, Hit The Lights, The Story So Far, All Time Low, Sleeping With Sirens, Pierce The Veil, The Word Alive, The All-American Rejects, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Real Friends, Neck Deep, State Champs, Ghost Down, PVRIS, As It Is, Goldfinger, Stick To Your Guns, Panic! What is a Slam Dunk Tour Ticket?

Slam Dunk Tour Ticket includes entry to all three days, plus afterparties, with wristband exchange q-jump and exclusive t-shirt + Hotel accommodation in Leeds, Hatfield and Birmingham, and transport from the North (Leeds) to South (Hatfield) events on Sunday 26th Morning, and transport from the South (Hatfield) to Midlands (Birmingham) event on Monday 27th Morning.
This package can be purchased exclusively via Festicket, and costs £395.

Do all the bands play everyday?

There are an 8 stages at all 3 events, all of the bands will play all three days. A schedule of stage splits and times will be released closer to the event.

Can we leave the festival site and come back?

Your festival wristband allows you to leave the festival site and return however please be aware you will be subject to security check whenever you return to site and we recommend you allow time for this.

Can I bring my camera without a photo/press pass?

Yes! We are one of the very few festivals that do not restrict what camera equipment you can bring onto the site. Feel free to bring your camera with you on the day. (This applies to cameras only, not video-recording equipment). Acceptable cameras are DSLR cameras, but large / telescopic lenses, tripods and any other additional kit will not be permitted on site.

Is it outside?

Please note that all 3 festival sites have both indoor and outdoor stages, and that this is an all-weather event. While we hope for good weather every year it is advised you bring appropriate, weather resistant clothing.
